3 DAYS WORKSHOP ON WOMEN EMPOWERMENT AND ERADICATION PROGRAM
FOR FGM IN SOMALIA WAS HELD AT MOGADISHU UNIVERSITY (MU)

Safia Yousuf Abdi, Came to visit
at Mogadishu University in between18-22 December 2004 as an
expertise guest visiting and consultant for international
social welfare and health policies including (FGM).
She did different workshops on FGM, which held at the nursing
faculty for nursing students, as well as the other students
of the faculties of (MU) and also a large number of participants
from the Somali Civil societies.
Her speech was greatly remarkable and highly appreciated for
all the participants including the teaching staff of MU.
Activities During her visit in Mogadishu
- 3 days workshop for women empowerment, eradication of
bad taboo including FGM and new approach training program
for Somali youth development in particular women.
- She had opportunity to exchange the ideas with MU students
and teaching staff of different faculties i.e faculty of
computer science & information technology, faculty of
economics & management science, faculty of Arts etc.
- She had constructive challenge against FGM and women
engagement for social development with MU students in her
Residence (Amira Hotel).
- She also visited Modern teaching hospital for the nursing
faculty, Arafat specialist Medical Center in Mogadishu,
Somalia.
- She did enjoyable tour for the new campus construction
of the Mogadishu University and actively participated the
work going on.
- She had also a tour for centers of women development
organizations in Mogadishu i.e Hamdi women & children
development Organization.
- Finally, she had official meeting with president of Mogadishu
University.
