Workshop on Humanitarian Law (IHL) held
at the Faculty of Sharia & Law - MU from 28 - 29 June
2005

Concentrated seminar as a form of workshop has been held
at the Faculty of Sharia & Law of Mogadishu University.
The Seminar was conducted by the International Committee
of the Red Cross (ICRC) for the students of the Faculty of
Sharia & Law and graduated students in the university.
The aim of this workshop was to provide the participants
with essential general knowledge on IHL.
The opening of this seminar, Mr. Hussein Moalim Iman, coordinator
of The Somali Center for Water & Environment at MU said
"this is not first time that collaboration passed between
ICRC and Mogadishu University; there were several projects
jointly implemented by the Faculty of Nursing & ICRC and
we hope more collaboration to take place between the two sides".
The seminar was facilitated by an expert from ICRC Ms. Anahita
Kar, Communication Delegate, who said at the end of the seminar
"the discussion, participation and performance of the
students were all good and effective".
At the end of the Seminar Dr. Mohamed Hussein Isse, dean,
Faculty of Sharia & Law encouraged the student to pass
the content of gained knowledge to the other students and
Somali community actors who have not been lucky to attend
this chance, and also to make deep and more research on this
International Humanitarian Law which is considered to be one
of the most important branches of the international law.
Finally, participation certificates were distributed to the
30 participant students in the seminar.
