1. VISION, MISSION , VALUES AND OBJECTIVES
1.1 Vision
Mogadishu University will be the premier non-state university in Somalia dedicated to providing affordable and accessible high quality education attuned to the national values of the Somali people.
1.2 Mission Statement
- To instill hope in the Somali society impaired by the collapsed state institutions and civil war, and revitalize community-based initiatives.
- To educate and nurture creative generations committed to peace, good governance and community services.
- To encourage intellectual and scholarly developments, foster openness to a wide range of ideas.
- To integrate social and Islamic values, scientific knowledge, and technical skills required for sustainable development of Somalia.

1.4 OBJECTIVES OF THE UNIVERSITY
(1) Bridging the Educational Gap MU shall take a pioneering role in filling the educational gap created during the civil war to provide higher education opportunities for the young generations of Somalia.
(2) Producing Educated Human Resource
MU shall give students an opportunity for higher education and specialization in various spheres of science and literature in response to the desperate needs of the country for educated human resources.
(3) Developing Scientific Knowledge
MU shall develop indigenous scientific knowledge through encouragement focused on research programs in the priority areas, the results of which shall contribute to solving the problems of the humanity in general and devastated Somali society in particular.
(4) Conducting Community Education Programs
MU shall contribute to the development of the society and encourage community participants in dealing with its colossal predicaments through various trainings, workshops, seminars, symposiums, conferences, and short courses of the continuous education programs.
(5) Training Students with Better Skills MU shall mould a balanced personality of the students with better and practical skills through internship programs; and strengthen their abilities in analytical reasoning and thinking.
(6) Preserving National Cultural Heritage
MU shall contribute to preserving the cultural heritage of the Somali people and to raise that awareness in the students and the community through adopting appropriate curriculum and carrying out creative cultural programs and activities. In particular, this objective shall be realized through establishing programs focusing on Somali studies.
(7) Cooperating with Other Organizations
MU shall foster cooperation with local, regional, and international institutions. Special attentions shall be offered to the institutions of higher education by joining organizations created to provide such environment and promoting bilateral and multilateral cooperation. |
