CENTER FOR COMMUNITY
SERVICES & CONTINUING EDUCATION


MU was established in 1996 and started class work in 22 Sept. 1997. One of its major objectives is to give special attention to the programs of the community services and continuing education, developing appropriate technologies and to train students with modern skills and culture of work. That's why CCSCE was established in Sep. 1998.

MISSION

To furnish services and deliver developmental programs for the community through dissemination of knowledge, conducting continuing education programs and raising awareness in partnership with the stakeholders of the society.

SCOPE

This center delivers complementary programs to the academic faculties of MU and conducts specially designed human resource development training programs for the community empowerment. The Center represents service-providing branch of MU

OBJECTIVES

  1. To train students and raise their competitiveness and their ability in qualifying to join the University.
  2. To develop academic and cultural capacity of the MU students and broaden their intellectual horizons.
  3. To engage the MU teaching staff and students in the community services through educational, cultural and service oriented programs.
  4. To establish and strengthen relations and cooperation with community members as well as the national and international organizations and institutions.
  5. To develop Somali language and develop special curriculum for the non-Somali speakers.

STRATEGY

  1. To hold conferences, conduct workshops and symposiums for the benefit of the students and the community at large.
  2. To deliver short programs and summer courses such as English and Arabic languages and skills in modern technologies.
  3. To establish illiteracy eradication program and raise the awareness of community in that sector.
  4. To dispatch task force groups consisting of students and teachers to the rural areas during the summer break in support of the rural communities.
  5. To participate in developing the national institutions and in coping with the regional/national emergency circumstances.
  6. To establish partnerships with similar centers and institutions.
  7. To establish diploma programs for variety of fields in the priority areas of the development of the society.
  8. To participate in the community activities and national festivities and events.
  9. To promote civil society values and organizations.

STRUCTURE

  1. Director of the CCSCE: Main responsibility is managing the center and directing its program activities.
  2. Training Program Officer (TPO): TPO shall implement all training programs, short courses, seminars, symposiums and etc.
  3. Community Service Program Officer (CSPO): The main job is public relations, engaging teachers and students in the community service related programs.
