Mogadishu University is one of the greatest achievements of the people of Somalia during the civil war. Its vision is to be the premier non-state university in Somalia dedicated to providing affordable and accessible high quality education. There are thousands of students who are perusing their studies in 29 different departments. Graduates of the university work in the public and private sectors in all over Somalia . Some of the graduates received MA and PhD degrees and teach at the universities and participate in reconstructing the devastated war-torn country.

The achievements of the university would not have been possible without the help of the Almighty Allah and the contribution of the committed professors, lecturers, dedicated administrations and selfless employees. Moreover, these achievements could not have been contemplated without ambitious students. All stated stakeholders of the university could not have accomplished their goals without the support of the community, fathers, mothers and children.

During the last 10 years of the civil war, MU has succeeded to become a member of five regional organizations and signed bilateral agreements with many prestigious universities. It became one among the first 100 African universities. The university gained friends and received financial and academic support from many of these institutions and individuals. I would like to express my gratitude to those who contributed in any way to the development of MU.

Mogadishu University enters second decade with more commitment and hope. My massage to all of you is to be conscious of the responsibility entrusted to you. The university opens for you new horizons to discover yourself, advance your talents, and enrich your awareness to create a better future for you and your people.
